DIY: Vial Decor

Hey everyone!

Today I wanted to show you guys how I made this little vial decoration. You can use other colour variations to get different affects and decorate it how you want, but this is a basic tutorial of how I made mine!

* vial/container
* cotton ball
* paint – black, red, yellow, white
* paintbrush
* sponge
* black pen
* paper
* tape
* waterproof container
* bath bomb – purple
* water
* glycerine
* bath salts/sugars/caviar – blue, purple, yellow

* the first thing I did was begin the prepare my ‘mixture’. In my vial/container I poured in my bath caviar. I layered mine in colour order of blue, purple and then yellow on top. In a separate container, I used a clean empty jam jar, I filled it up with 3 parts water and 1 part glycerine and mixed it together. And in there I placed my bath bomb and put that to the side to fizz.
* in the meantime I worked on decorating the bottle. I took a small slip of paper, larger than I wanted the label to be, and put it to the side to paint. I mixed up a brown paint using 3parts white, 1part red, 2parts yellow and 1/2part black; you could also use just a brown if you have one or soak a teabag in hot water. I then dipped the sponge into the paint and sponged a thin layer over the paper, going over it again as needed to lighten and darkest areas. After that has dried I took a black pen to write out the lettering, I chose to write ‘Poision’ in a vintage–esque style, and then tore the label into the shape and style I wanted. Taking some tape, I measured it up and stuck the label onto the vial. To give it an older look I ruffed up any loose edges so it was so flat and precise.
* now onto the mixture again. Once the bath bomb has fizzed, you should have a coloured water – mine was purple. In small amounts I poured the liquid into the vial up to my desired height. The water and caviar you put it will begin to change colour.
* to finish up, I wanted a cork in the top. Instead of using the one it came with, I made my own. I painted a tiny bit of black paint and rubbed it between my palms before rolling a cotton ball in it. It gives the cotton ball a darker more smokey look. Once satisfied I positioned it in the top of the vial and was done!

I hope you guys enjoyed this little DIY project!

Hey guys, just a quick update here to explain a few things.

First things first, thank you for being so patient with my absence. I have had a few really lovely emails from you guys asking where I’ve been and wishing me the best. I just want you to know that I do read every single one and will respond as soon as I can – all your messages mean an awful lot to me, so thank you for that.

Now down to business – where I’ve been.
I know I haven’t been gone too long, it’s only almost two weeks, but I need to explain a few things.
There has been a lot of things going on recently that I’m not in the position to speak about currently, but I haven’t been able to prepare, write or upload anything, and I won’t be able to for a long while now.

Whenever I have a moment that I can, I will get something written or recorded for you guys and will upload them in spread out intervals. I have a few tutorials coming up that I have pre–prepared, so I hope you enjoy them.

I am very sorry about all this,but I guess that’s life, right?

Fall Spice Tag!

Hey everyone!

I am finally back on course with my usual posts and stuff. I do apologise for the amount of series’ I’ve been doing – but I have been extremely busy with school and mental health shizz and didn’t want to leave you guys! But I am back now, and although it is the end of September now, I wanted to do the Fall Spice Tag! (For all of my lovely UK readers – I’m using Fall so everyone else knows what we’re talking about)

Favourite Lip Product – I have been loving two lip products so far this fall. As I don’t want anything too dramatic or anything that I will have to touch up to stop it looking really worn for school, I have been loving the Barry M Lip Lacquer Crayon in shade 2/Cherry Red. The second product is for when I’m not at school, and that is the Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Dare. Both are £4.99 from Superdrug.

Red or Pink Lips – As you may know before or have guessed from the previous question, I love my red lips. In fact I do only wear red lips.

Winged eyeliner or bold eyeshadow – As we aren’t allowed heavy makeup for school, I can only stick to winged eyeliner weekdays, and I don’t often wear bold eyeshadow unless I know I’m going out somewhere with my friends or something.

Natural/Cold/Light or Bold/Warm/Dark makeup – I prefer darker makeup – all year. I very rarely wear light or natural makeup, other than for school. Even in the spring and summer.

Favourite Nail Polish – I don’t have a specific nail polish, but I love dark colours. Some of my favourites are Red Black and Black, both by Barry M.

Uggs or Moccasins – I have never been a fan of Maccasins – I just really do not like them. I have never owned a pair of uggs because I don’t wear them enough – but I do have a fake pair that I got in Primark! I basically live in Converse and Doc Martins all year!

Fuzzy socks or Knee-High socks – Who said you have to choose?! I have a pair of fluffy grey over-the-knee socks from Primark that I got last year – and I absolutely love them. They are perfect for lounging around, and also for wearing with boots (such as my Doc Martins)!

Favourite Fall Accessory – I can’t pick just one – so I have four for you! My black bandana (from a market); my black beanie (from amazon); my pink checkered scarf (not sure of where I got it – was a long time ago!); and my long red and black fingerless gloves (from Blue Banana).

Favourite Fall Food – This fall I have been loving two flavours of Pop-Tarts that I have only just discovered – S’mores and Brown Sugar Cinnamon.

Favourite Movie – It isn’t really a ‘Fall’ movie, but more of a Halloween Movie. Either way, every Fall I watch Corpse’s Bride about 15 times.

Apple Pie or Brownies – Apple pie. But for me that isn’t a Fall thing as we make one like every two weeks.

Favourite Halloween Candy – I love the Pumpkin and the Ghost Peeps! But I do have to order them online :/

Halloween Costume this year – Last year I didn’t really dress up. I just used some fake lip studs paired with amazing spidery eye makeup and my normal clothes. This year however, I’m…… Batman! (Or Bat..woman…)

Favourite thing about Fall – I love the environment. It’s an amazing time for my photography – what with all the trees, leaves, weather – it’s just beautiful.

Self Injury First Aid

Hey everyone.

This was another requested post, but one I was also thinking of doing anyway. So I was asked to write a post about first aid for self injury; in particularly cutting.

I don’t actually have too much to say on this, because every single case is different, but I just wanted to give a brief overview of what you can do.

So the first thing is before you’ve even done anything. You want to be in a clean environment and make sure that what you are using is clean. Don’t use a piece of glass you find on the floor. Don’t smash a mirror and use parts of that. Don’t use the sharpener you found at school or in the back of your drawer. Some people will then just clean it with alcohol or antibacterial gel or anything like that – but you want to use something that is clean without putting any products like alcohol or creams on it.

The next thing would be for the actual wounds. If you have a pretty severe cut and you are likely to have done quite a bit of damage, the cut will be wider and the blood would be more than just a trickle. If that happens you want to hold the two sides together. This prevents anything getting into the wound, but also stops it from getting any bigger. You then want to apply pressure to the wound. It should stop bleeding in 5 – 10 minutes of continuous pressure. If that doesn’t work and the blood is still pumping out then you could have cut a vein or vessel and you need to go to hospital and get it seen to by a medical professional.

If the wound is just your ‘average’ cut and the blood is get trickling out, like a tear would trickle down your cheek, then you want to start by rinsing it out with clean water and again apply pressure to stop the bleeding. I would always apply an antiseptic cream such as Sudocrem or Savlon. Don’t use any products on it such as moisturiser or makeup or anything like that as it is going to slow down the healing process and increase the chance of infections. It is best to just leave it to the air after applying an antiseptic cream, but sometimes it may be necessary to apply a plaster or bandage. You want to make sure that the pad of any plaster completely covers the wound, otherwise you are going to pull off any skin that has healed over or any scabs when you remove it.

I hope this post was helpful, if you want me to go more indepth in something or write a first aid post on a different type of self injury, then let me know in the comments, via my email or on my tumblr.

Common White Girl Tag!

Hey everyone!

I would like to start off by saying thank you for the post requests I have received over the past couple of days. I will be getting all of them out to you ASAP! The first request was to do another tag. I haven’t done a tag in a long time so I decided to scour youtube and came across the Common White Girl Tag!

*Just a quick disclaimer. This is just for fun and the questions are not meant to come across as offensive in any way.

Okay, so lets get into it!

1. Favorite starbucks drink? I don’t really go to Starbucks, but I have been in once or twice and decided to get something. Both those times I got the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino from their Blended Beverages range.
2. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? Depends what I’m doing. For school, I have 1hour 15minutes to get ready; of which I have about 45minutes for my hair, makeup, clothes etc. On the weekends, I can take anywhere from 30minutes to a few hours to get ready!
3. How many selfies do you take on a daily basis? On a daily basis; none. I’m not a huge fan of selfies, but I will take them every so often. One or two a week maybe. I only really take selfies if I’m wearing something different or i’m doing something etc.
4. How many IG followers and pics do you have? My IG is locked, so I only have a few followers, but I have 25 followers and 129 posts.
5. Do you ever say “LOL” or “OMG” out loud? Nope. Never. Nothing more to say on that topic.
6. Do you wear the same clothing item more than once? Yes. There isn’t much point in buying clothes if you’re only going to wear it once – unless it’s like a dress for a wedding or something like that. But I have staple pieces in my wardrobe that I wear all the time.
7. Are you racist? No. It seems that everyone who I’ve seen do this tag has asked why this question is on here, because it is a bit of a strange and random question.
8. How many tweets do you have? I haven’t used twitter for very long, and don’t use it very often so I only have 89 tweets.
9. Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr? Well Twitter is out of the question because I do not use it very often. I’ll log in maybe once a week or so. I love both Instagram and Tumblr but I probably use and prefer Instagram. So Instagram wins!
10. What do you spend most of your time doing? On the internet probably. Well, my free time anyway. When I’m not at school I am either out with friends, reading or on the internet.
11. Who are your favourite youtubers? I have tons of youtubers that I love; but I’d say my top 5 are Danisnotonfire, Emma Blackery, Troye Sivan, Hannah Walpole and Shaaanxo.
12. How often do you do your nails? Once a week, usually. Unless I’ve done something to chip off my nails quicker. So once a week unless they need doing sooner.
13. Are you a shopaholic? No, not really. I mean I do go shopping a lot and I buy a lot of stuff, but I’m not over the top with spending or shopping or anything like that.
14. How many times have you watched Mean Girls? Never.
15. Do you own a lot of clothes? Quite a lot but not loads. I don’t own as much as a large amount of people, but I definitely own enough.
16. Do you take pictures of your food before you eat it? No. I take pictures if I make something for the first time. Like the first time I made a rainbow cake or oreo stuffed cookies or an icecream sundae.
17. Do you wear makeup everyday? Yes. Well, not everyday. I wear makeup everyday for school, and if ever i’m going out. But I plan certain days, usually twice a month or so, where I won’t wear makeup. If on those days I happen to need to go out or someone comes round, I will only put on a small bit of eyeliner and that’s it.
18. What are your average grades in school? We don’t get grades very often, but I think about a B.
19. How do you usually style your hair? Straight and messy. I will usually straighten my hair and use hairspray to make my layers more messy and to tease parts of my hair. A lot of the time now I put my hair in a high side ponytail, leaving my fringe out, and put in a bandana.
20. Do you always look presentable? Pft – no! Who always looks presentable?

So I hope you enjoyed this tag, and keep the requests coming!

Food Series: Chocolate Berry Cups

Hey everyone!

So this post brings an end to my Food Series so I do hope at least one of you has enjoyed some aspect of it. I’m going to leave you with this cute dessert or snack that balances with the fruit and the chocolate.

30minutes preparation; 90minutes refrigeration; makes 12

300g chocolate, broken
Selection of blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and raspberries
Icing Sugar to dust

1) Melt the chocolate in a glass bowl over a pan of simmering water.
2) Put plain paper cupcake cases in a 12–hole baking tray and full each one a quarter full with the melted chocolate.
3) Use a small pastry brush to paint the chocolate up the sides of the cases to the top. Try to create an even layer, and check that there are no weak, streaky areas.
4) Put the tray in the fridge and allow the chocolate to cool until hardened. If required, add another thin layer of chocolate and put it in the fridge again. When the chocolate has totally hardened, carefully peel off the paper cases leaving the chocolate cups.
5) Full the chocolate cups with a selection of your favourite berries, dust with icing sugar and serve!

* You can also add some cream to the bottom of the cup before adding your berries!

Food Series: Treacle Tarts

Hey everyone!

I wanted to bring you one of my favourite recipes! This may not be the quickest recipe, but these Treacle Tarts are great to take as a snack or part of a packed lunch to school or work. They are also just as good for snacks or dessert at home!

40minutes preparation; 25minutes cooking; makes 4

350g ready–made shortcrust pastry
160ml golden syrup
1 lemon
75g fresh breadcrumbs
1 egg white

1) Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6
2) On a lightly floured surface, roll out there–quarters of the pastry to around 3mm thick. Transfer it to four greased 10cm tart tons and trim off any overhang, ensuring you keep the trimmings. Place in the fridge for 20minutes.
3) Warm the golden syrup gently in a pan until it melts.
4) Remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the breadcrumbs and the rind of the lemon. Whip one egg white until it forms stuff peaks. While the syrup is cooking, fold in the egg white. Leave to stand for 10minutes, then add more breadcrumbs if the mixture is too wet. Stir in 30ml of lemon juice, then spread the mixture evenly between the four tins.
5) Roll out the left over pastry and cut it into 48 thin strips. Don’t worry about being too precise. Twist the strips into spirals then arrange them into lattices over each tart.
6) Place the tarts in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce the temperate to 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5 and bake for another 15 minutes until golden.
